Coffee from Africa's Largest Exporter

Robusta from its birthplace and high-altitude Bugisu Arabica — selectively picked, bed-dried, and cupped before a single bag ships.

01 / The Crop

Robusta from Its Birthplace

Robusta coffee is indigenous to Uganda — it still grows wild in the country's forests — and in 2025 Uganda passed Ethiopia to become Africa's largest coffee exporter by volume: 8.6 million 60 kg bags worth $2.3 billion in the year to May 2026. About 85% of the crop is Robusta, grown up to 1,500 metres; the rest is Arabica from the high slopes of Mount Elgon in the east and the Rwenzoris in the west.

Our cherry is picked selectively, in multiple passes through the season, when the branch turns deep red — never stripped green. Underripes and floaters are rejected at the buying station.

02 / Processing

Slow-Dried on Raised Beds

Lots are processed washed or natural depending on the profile a buyer wants, then spread on raised African beds and turned by hand — day after day — until moisture settles at 10–12%, comfortably inside the export standard.

Slow drying is not a bottleneck; it is the point. Even moisture means stable beans in transit, clean flavour in the roaster, and no surprises at destination.

03 / Grading

Screen-Graded, Hand-Sorted

After hulling, every lot is screen-graded and hand-sorted. Robusta ships as Screen 18 and Screen 15 — the standard Uganda export grades — and our washed Arabica as Bugisu AA/A (Screen 17/18) from the Mount Elgon region.

Defects don't travel. Broken beans, foreign matter, and off-colours come out on the sorting table, and each lot is documented bag by bag.

04 / The Cupping Table

Cupped Before It Ships

Every export lot crosses our cupping table before it is offered. If we wouldn't drink it, we don't ship it. That habit is why our lots land where the demand is: Europe takes about two-thirds of Uganda's coffee, led by Italy and Germany, with Asia and Africa growing fast.

Lots ship in 60 kg jute bags with GrainPro liners, with certificate of origin, phytosanitary certificate, and EUDR traceability data — FOB Mombasa.
